The easiest, cheapest homemade holiday gift ever. Seriously.

I am a reluctant crafter.

It’s true.  It took me a while to even admit that I enjoy the world of homemade bedazzled miscellaneousness. It took me even longer to cop to it here.

However, now that everyone knows of my love for diaper cakes (wow, that just sounds wrong), I can show off some more of my crafty awesomeness.  And by awesomeness I mean I can impress others with minimal effort or skill.

Today I’m going to show you how I create what I like to call the “when-a-holiday-card-is-too-little, a-gift-card-is-too-impersonal, and a-$20-thing-is-too-much” gift.

Catchy, isn’t it?

Step 1: Assemble your materials

You will need the following:

  • hot chocolate (duh)
  • marshmallows
  • chocolate chips
  • disposable plastic pastry bags (12″)
  • towel for easy clean up
  • little elf helper(s)

I wanted Peanut to wear little elf ears for this shot. She wasn't having it.

Step 2: Scoop in 2/3 cup of hot chocolate to a pastry bag

The measurements really mean nothing. Just scoop enough in to look like a cone.

Step 3: Add a handful of marshmallows

That's one eager little elf. Or maybe less "eager" and more "high on chocolate chips." Shame.

Step 4: Add a handful of chocolate chips as the top layer

It's ice cream. NO WAIT...it's hot chocolate!!

Step 5: Twist the top of bag and secure with a rubber band.  Add festive ribbon.

I store mine in a mixing bowl to keep them upright.

Step 6: Repeat with helper elves

I'm sure you are ignoring the overflowing recycling bin behind Peanut's head. Me too.

And VOILA!  You now know a super cheap, easy, and fast way to give a homemade gift this holiday season.

But please don’t give me one.

My dirty little secret? I don’t like hot chocolate.
